Evocative & thought-provoking
on 11 February 2014
Robert Macfarlane's writing about walking, paths and boundaries transcends the merely descriptive and takes the reader into realms of thought and imagination about who we are, where we come from, who was here before us, and who will come after.
The Broomway is well out of the ordinary as a path. It does and doesn't exist. And when it does exist, it is confusing, it defeats the usual innate navigational abilities, and can easily lead the walker astray. Macfarlane's account and David Quentin's photos complement each other beautifully.
