Colour Name: Green Verified Purchase
This double sleeping bag liner is the real deal. It's real silk (not the increasingly prolific "Art" one that's man-made) - this is the genuine article & exudes quality.

When it arrived, it weighed a smidgen over the prescribed amount (226g instead of 224g), but that could just as much be down to the accuracy of my scales as well as natural variation. Interestingly, after being washed in a mild detergent (as per the wash instructions), this weight dropped to 201g!

On discussion with the company, it appears that this weight loss may be due to a reduction in the amount of sericin in the fabric (the naturally occurring resinous substance which the silkworm uses to bind the silk together) - interestingly, the presence of which lends a slight but pleasing aroma (to most people anyway).

Loads lighter & far more packable than a cotton or fleece equivalent, this is a very light bit of kit which we find incredibly useful when camping as it's far easier to launder than the sleeping bags themselves & on really hot nights, is sufficient on its own. Silk being silk - it tends to be warm when it's cool & cool when it's warm - & no - I can't explain this anomaly either.

We chose the green (which is a subdued shade - not garish or artificial in any way) bc we figured it would show up ticks better than the grey - also, from experience in the field, we know that ticks tend towards darker colours (more akin to animal fur). Having said this, if tick-avoidance were our primary objective, then the orange colour would have been best, but for wild camping, we think that low-key green is best...
