DVD Description

“The departure of Amanda Burton has given this forensic drama a new lease of life.” The Sunday Times

The departure of Professor Sam Ryan has left Leo Dalton and Harry Cunningham to run the forensic pathology department – with the assistance of new recruit, Nikki Alexander. But as personal tragedy strikes, the team’s relationships are put under stress…

Series 9
Ghosts - While Nikki is called to investigate two women's bodies found at the river, Leo leaves for Sheffield where there is devastating news about his family – and a link to the murders.

Choices
- Investigating a drive-by shooting at a club, the forensics team makes some breakthrough discoveries, but can they act in time to prevent an all-out gang war?

The Meaning of Death -
They may appear to be random killings, but Nikki and Leo are determined to find the links that could lead them to a serial killer – before he strikes again.

Mind and Body
- An apparent suicide, a stabbing rampage by a paranoid schizophrenic and 17-year-old girl crushed by a train all lead the team to a care centre doctor.

Series 10
Cargo - Four bodies are found in the Thames after a boat crash. Nikki, Leo and Harry investigate a tragic people-trafficking operation – and whether there could still be some survivors…

Terminus -
The team is split as Harry deals with a hit-and-run accident, Leo investigates a fire that left a woman dead, and Nikki attends a hen night tragedy.

Body of Work
- While Nikki's post-mortem of Harry's ex-girlfriend produces a devastating revelation, Leo investigates the apparent staged suicide of artist, Jimmy Triangle.

Supernova
- Leo's investigation of the suicide of a 14-year-old girl evokes painful memories, while Nikki's case of a death of an elderly woman becomes ever more complicated.

Schism -  A teenage girl, tortured to death at a London dogs' home, leads the team to a violent group of animal activists seeking to destroy an experimentation facility.

When BBC dvd started releasing Silent Witness on dvd we had to wait along time after series 2 before the 3rd series was released with series 4. Now thankfully they seem to be releasing them at a quicker rate. As the other reviewer pointed out this dvd which contains series 9 and 10 does not feature Sam Ryan. I fact Sam Ryan left at the end of the 1st story A Time To Heal in series 8 when Amanda Burton decided to leave to move on. Now we have Nikki Alexander who joined the series in the series 8 story Nowhere Fast. Nikki is superbly played by Emilia Fox and joins regulars Loe Dalton (played by William Gaminara) and Harry Cunningham (played by Tom Ward) - the 3 have an excellent on screen chemistry.

The picture and sound quality are excellent and the dvds are nicely pacaged in a sturdy plastic amary style case. Series 9 concists of the following episodes Ghosts, Choices, The Meaning Of Death and Mind And Body. While series 10 has the following stories Cargo, Terminus, Body Of Work, Supernova and Schism. Silent Witness is one of the best tv programmes the BBC make and I hope the nest series is released on dvd soon.

Love this show 29 Mar 2011
Format:DVD
We started watching Silent Witness with Amanda Burton and after PBS no longer showed the series, we purchased a DVD so we could order from Amazon UK and continue to watch this show. I believe the series has greatly improved since the departure of Amanda Burton. I think the early series with Ms. Burton had a feeling of family that was lacking in the series as it continued with Amanda. Once again we have a feeling of family with Nikki, Harry and Leo. Not only family but a wonderful written group of characters that embrace and display both love and humor. The shows are riveting, sometimes difficult to watch but always well done!

I already have up to Series 8 on DVD of `Silent Witness' but I have become such a fan of the current cast with Leo, Harry and Nikki that I have decided to continue collecting the rest of the series! You just cannot beat a drama like SW I just wish it was on more frequently than it was but then I imagine it takes some time to record, film and edit each episode. Roll on the next series!

Now that Amanda is gone.
I also believe the series has got better. Nothing against the Amanda Burton character except it put me to sleep. I can't wait for the next season.

let down
Aside from the departure of Sam Ryan, the quality appears to have departed too. The episodes are very weak, not down to earth as they were before. Read more
