'This woman is an inspiration and I am honoured to call her my mum' (Martine McCutcheon )

Product Description

For years, Jenny and sister Kim suffered horrendous physical and sexual abuse at the hands of their father. They survived in part because of their closeness and their determination to be there for each other.

Both sisters left home at the earliest opportunity to escape but before long, Jenny was embroiled in a relationship with an abusive man that kept her locked in a cycle of violence and fear. Their lives followed parallel paths, with first marriage, then kids and always the terror that things would never change. Eventually, with a lot of love, grit and courage they helped each other to climb out of the pit of despair and truly free themselves from the legacy of the past.

Every bit as harrowing and inspiring as Behind Closed Doors, this is a story of the power of unstintingly loyal love.

Having previously read 'Behind Closed Doors' and enjoyed it, I was curious to read what happened next to Jenny Tomlin and her family. I was horrified to read that the cruel cycle had repeated itself but very happy to see that after such a horrible life as a victim of cruelty, Jenny and her sister have managed to come through it. A truly inspiring read which has been well written.

BRILLIANT READ 28 Sep 2006
Format:Hardcover
A brilliant follow up book for Jenny Tomlin. I thoroughly enjoyed her first book and this is just as good if not better. This book is jointly written with her sister.

Jenny (Martine McCutcheon's mother) survived terrible sustained violence from Martine's father but lived to tell the tale but bears the scars. It is a disturbing but well written book and I am glad both sisters have remained close to each other and have found a better life in France.

Just as Jenny is so proud of Martine, I am sure Martine thinks her mum is a fantastic author and mother.

a very sad book
this is a sad book, very readable once you get into it, there were times when you could get a bit mixed-up with all the different names and details of the people in their life. Read more

Not bad
This book is the follow up to 'Behind Closed Doors', not a bad read, and you feel that after everything this woman has gone through you should at least finish her book. Read more

A great read!
This is an excellent follow on from 'Behind closed doors'. Very frustrating at times though, to think that Jenny almost let history repeat itself! Read more
