Simply Beautiful, 21 May 2002

Tara MacLean is certainly one of the best female vocalists in Canada, her voice is remarkable. Each song stands out, and stays in your mind. The first track, Evidance, is haunting and one of my own favourites, along with More, If You Could and Holy Tears (I kinda had to find the album after I heard this song in the last episode of Due South, the song just added to the mood). This album is worth every penny, I recommend it to anyone. If you like Sarah MacLachlin, then you'll love Tara MacLean.

I was looking forward to buying this album after another reviewer compared Tara Maclean to Sarah McLaughlin. Im a big McLaughlin fan and i'm sorry, but in my opinion she is in a totally different league to Tara Maclean. I was disappointed when I bought this album, it has grown on me a bit and I do like 'If You Could'.Despite some nice lyrics in places, I found the album a bit whiney and even bland in places. It's worth a listen, but on the whole I think it's very average. . I won't be buying any more CDs by Tara Maclean!

Music like Lene Marlin and voice like one of the girls from The Corrs, so if you like those..., 4 Jul 2008
... then go ahead and buy this album. I bought the album based on only the small clip where she appears in the movie "Coyote Ugly", and it sounded so good that I just HAD to have it, and I haven't regretted buying it, but I thought she had some more up-tempo tracks, but the whole album is quite laidback, and it's nice to have as background music when you have guests over. Though; I would have liked to give her 4 and a half star, but when you can only give 4 OR 5, then it had to be 4, cause I must admit I was a bit disappointed. Her other album "Passenger", I was not expecting very much from it, cause I thought it would be like her "Silence", but there's actually a bit more tempo and more instruments on it, so I think I like that one better. :)
While listening to Tara, I was thinking "She sounds like Sarah McLachlan" too, so maybe there are several artists with similar names, but no matter if you think she sounds like Sarah McLACHLAN or someone by the name Sarah McLaughlin, or the ones I mentioned in the title, she's really just her own. She's special in a good way, and if you like quality music, and not standard popsongs, then take a listen to this girl! :)
