Book Description

27 May 2013
This is the only comprehensive monograph of the work of Sigurd Lewerentz (1885–1975), one of the leading Swedish architects of the twentieth century. Lewerentz was a master of religious architecture and this book includes his major works at Malmo Cemetery, the church of St Peter at Klippan, and Uppsala Cathedral among a definitive catalogue of more than 150 projects researched from the archives of the Stockholm Museum of Architecture. The book also includes an essay on Lewerentz’s sacred architecture by the esteemed late architect Colin St John Wilson and the only known piece of writing by Lewerentz – a text on cemetery landscapes.

By Christian Dagg - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book is a true compilation of Lewerentz's work. All the projcts, images and drawings together in one source. I have spent time researching the work of this architect and when I found this book realized the search was over. I would recommend this book for anyone getting ready to travel to Sweden, you will discover some wonderful projects that are not on the standard visit but worth your attention.

5.0 out of 5 stars Janne Ahlin's book on Lewerentz was better 3 July 2013
By Gerald L. Maffei - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
A good companion to Janne Ahlin's book on Lewerentz. Recommended as an architect who was once Asplund's partner and unheralded equal. His ideas about material use and context are as fresh and useful as ever. Good value. Good Quality.
