"Unleashed" by Katie MacAlister.
Is actually a shape changing vampire story. Lots of humor and sexy vampires. And wolves. And - well. It's got a whole world built in, from a previous story line of MacAlister's other book series, so its more than just a short story. I'm not a huge vampire fan, but I still found the characters intertaining. The vampire, Avery Scott, turns into a jaguar, which is where this story folds into the book theme.

"Cat Scratch Fever" by Connie Brockway.
This short story is a stand alone, as far as I know. I really liked the heroine, Edith Handelman, even though she has asbergers syndrome - or perhaps because of it. The thing I dont like about it, is asbergers syndrome characters are EVERYWHERE these days. It's getting used far too often. Jim Curran brings his daughter to the shelter to pick out a new kitten. She attaches herself to a very elderly cat, stating it's her dead mothers cat that ran away before she was born. This story had me heavily crying, but in a good way.

"A Cat's Game" by Vicki Lewis Thompson.
The heroine, Kate Archer, adopts a cat from the shelter, and there the connection to the theme pretty much ends. Katy is an introverted daughter of a famous star. She wants to be a home body and far out of the lime light. She meets up with high school flame, Jon Ramsey, who has made it big time, who can't tie his shoe without making tabloid headlines. She turns him away, but then decides she'd rather have him (and put up with the media), than not. Of the three stories, this one is clearly teen age wishfulfilment, and it left me cold.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh My Books! Review 27 May 2011
By Maria Guajardo - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I actually read Cupid Cats a long time ago, for Valentine's Day.

Cupid Cats is a collection of three stories from different writers. Every story has something in common, a magical cat from the Cupid Cats shelter.

Unleashed by Katie MacAlister is about a Morovian, a jaguar shape shifter, and a wildlife officer. If you like paranormal romance you will love this one, full of action and paranormal characters. Unleashed is a novella from her series Dark Ones.

A Cat's Game by Vicky Lewis Thompson is about a superstar and his ex-high school girlfriend, who found each other again. It's a cute and romantic story, and the magical kitty is always there trying to bring them together.

Cat Scratch Fever by Connie Brockway is the cutest story of all. A father goes to the shelter looking for a cat with his little daughter, and he found Edith, who works at his company and is a very shy woman. The magical cat, Ishy/Pixie, is the cat that his daughter wants, but she is very old and doesn't want to leave the shelter, giving the couple time to really meet each other.

All of the stories were well written and I enjoyed them. They were romantic and perfect to read them for Valentine's Day.

4.0 out of 5 stars three fun lightheaded feline romances 10 July 2010
By Harriet Klausner - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
"Unleashed" by Katie MacAlister. Fish and Wildlife Officer Jacintha "kitty whisperer" Ferreira arrives at the Cupid Cats shelter to investigate a Moravian jaguar inside with a hangover. Instead of just a large feline she finds voices in her head courtesy of vampire Avery Scott.

"Cat Scratch Fever" by Connie Brockway. In Chicago, Widower Jim Curran takes his five years old Chloe to the nearby animal shelter so she can pick a kitten as her pet. However, the little girl insiststhat an elderly cat is her late mother's long-missing Pixie. While her father and shelter director Dr. Edith Handelman know that is impossible, no one bothered to tell the cat.

"A Cat's Game" by Vicki Lewis Thompson. While her sister is on vacation, Kate Archer manages her sibling's bed and breakfast in Bisbee, Arizona. Her first arrival is her high school sweetheart Jon Ramsey. It is the newly adopted cat who plays matchmaker.

These are three fun lightheaded feline romances as a cat stars in Kate MacAlister's urban fantasy and plays matchmaker in the other two tales.

4.0 out of 5 stars Three imaginative novellas about Cupid Cat Shelters' denizens 7 Feb 2012
By Elf2060 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Cupid Cats is a trilogy of novellas that feature three very different felines associated with special shelters that cater to cats in different cities. Trademark irreverant Katie McAlister characters in "Unleashed" enliven the tale of Jacintha, a Fish & Wildlife officer who investigates a call that turns out to be a blue-eyed jaguar who is a Moravian named Avery. This vampire with a soul runs afoul of a group that is engaged not only in an internal power struggle but is involved in nefarious undertakings that will require that he join forces with Jacintha to right the wrongs being perpetrated.

Edith, a geeky geneticist has a secret crush on one of the widowed executives of her company but lacks the people skills to attract him in Connie Brockway's "Cat Scratch Fever". Edith's sponsorship of a Cupid Cats Shelter brings her into contact with an elderly feline who exerts an uncanny attraction for the widower's precocious daughter and helps the shelter live up to its name.

Vicki Lewis Thompson's Kate Archer succumbs to "A Cat's Game" when she allows herself to be persuaded to adopt a cat from the Cupid Cats Shelter in the small Arizona town where she is a temporary manager of her sister's bed and breakfast inn. Unfortunately, Kate's only tenant is her old flame who has achieved success as a Hollywood star. Kate's fear of the price of fame threatens to prevent the rekindling of their romance but perhaps a Cupid Cat can show her how to open her heart again.

Three very different felines show that they deserve their mystical reputations by facilitating romance in very different circumstances. This is an intriguing look at three very different styles of writing that show how a magical cat can bring love into a lonely person's life. A nice mixture of tales ranging from erotic shapeshifters to a socially inept genius attracted to an engaging little girl and her hunk of a father followed by the tale of a normally intrepid woman who is afraid of having her heart broken again. Cupid Cats is a purrfect mixture of magic and romance.
