5.0 out of 5 stars Good value 14 Feb 2008
Good quality kit which is nice and easy to fit and set up, once I'd found how to change the language from German! I have used it for a few weeks now and it has had no problems at all. I'd had a look at a few Cateye and Trek computers, but there's not much competition from them at the £19.99 price of this, features wise. It tells you a good deal of trip info and stores total mileage and hours automatically, plus it has a training aid to show you how your current speed matches your average speed. Good quality, nice and easy to use and read and very good value. I'm very happy with it. NEW October 2008: Still working well, no faults at all, still very happy with it after 8 months. Have dropped it onto concrete a few times now, from about 4 feet, with no ill effects. Doesn't get wet often, but when it has there have been no problems. An older version I had from Sigma didn't like the rain at all. This seems ok.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works as claimed 29 Jun 2008

Just started cycling to work. Had been using my watch to time how long it was taking. Thought for the money this looked useful. Was initially doubtful as to whether I would get this to work, but it worked first time and immedietely. On the Sigma website there is a video showing you how to set this up. Even though it's not difficult to put on your bike it's always reasurring to see someone else do it, (if only they did this for flat pack furniture!).

There seems to be a spare rubber band which threw me at first. Also, you'll need a knife or sharp instrument to lift the rubber seal on the sender unit in order to get the rubber band in. Then replace the seal. I wasn't sure how to do this at first as was worried about damaging the seal. In the manual there's a 2nd picture showing the magnet being attatched to the spoke. It looked like some sort of plastic strip was being used. God only knows what that's about. Just ignore that and follow the first diagram. Just a shame they don't have a text explanation with the diagrams in the manual. Also, I wish they'd seperated the different languges rather than have a all 5 together. I found it easier and quicker to highlight the English text. Especially for later reference. A useful feature is that the timer stops after approx 5 secs of inativity. In this way you're not penalised for traffic holdups.

Anyway, for the money it works exactly as stated and I would recommend it. One thing to note, you have to reset the times after every trip. I'd forgotten to do so a couple of times only to find the times had been added to the prvious trip.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great piece of kit 3 Sep 2008
Bought this computer for £22 and what a great deal - had it set up from taking it out of the box within a couple of minutes and it works great.

If you're worried whether it's waterproof enough, don't be: mine did a full machine wash cycle the other day and you wouldn't know - think thats proof enough!

5.0 out of 5 stars Works as advertised 5 Sep 2008
Pretty accurate speed readings, pretty rugged thus far, quite cheap. I'm slightly worried the magnet or sensor might come off, but they appear to be quite hard to shift even going downhill fast on rough terrain on a mountain bike. Easy to set up, no nonsense.

4.0 out of 5 stars Setup a little tricky but display super clear 19 April 2009
I did a bit of research and eventually went with the Sigma BC1106dts. It was a great price and from the other reviews I had read of this and other wireless bike computers, I figured that it would serve my needs.
It arrived in next to no time - thanks to amazon's wonderful (and free) shipping. The box was simple to open - it didn't need to be hacked at with scissors or anything. A good start.
Installing it on the bike wasn't too hard. Perhaps I expected it to be worse, but I double checked the diagrams for each step. The diagrams themselves could be a little clearer and it came with an extra rubber band and some kind of tool that weren't shown in the instruction booklet. This added a bit of confusion.
Then came the calibration. Although I must add that the bike computer is in German until you change the language. This is well inside the manual and took a bit of hunting down. Again I got there in the end.
Bottom line you need a bit of patience to follow all the steps through as it isn't intuitive. But once you have, you're good to go. The whole thing takes about half an hour.
It looks good. No cables hanging down or twisted around your brake cables. And performance wise - it's great. I recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Piece of Kit 28 Jan 2010

This is my second one of these, only because I was foolish enough to drop the other one, a great number of times.
Worry not about that comment, however, because the device is generally as sturdy as you would expect a small piece of electronic equipment to be!

The computer is simple enough to operate and has enough features for experts and beginners alike. I use my computer as a motivational tool in terms of distance travelled rather than how long it takes, and I find the computer to be accurate when on good batteries. The wireless signal between sensor and receiver is robust and does not suffer interference during normal use.

New users may find the machine a little confusing because it will start out in German! But this is easy to remedy. You might also think the instructions are confusing, but if you follow the diagrams, it's quite easy to work out to be honest.

Battery life is very good and the one thing that sets this computer apart from others at this price point, is that you can reset the Odometer if you install fresh batteries - I found this lack of a feature frustrating on two Cateye computers I Have had in the past year or so!

Overall a great computer. Get one because I think it's a bargain.
