Product Description

Product Description

High-performance wide-angle lens, designed exclusively for mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras. This high-performance standard lens has the equivalent angle of view as a 28.5mm (35mm equivalent focal length) on the E-mount sytem. The ultra-compact and lightweight construction guarantees excellent mobility, making it perfect for many types of photography.

Three glass mold aspherical lenses allow this lens to be compact and lightweight. They also ensure excellent correction for distortion and provide high image quality throughout the frame. The inner focusing system corrects the fluctuation of aberration to maintain image quality regardless of the focusing position. Image quality is enhanced further with Sigma’s Super Multi-Layer Coating which reduces flare and ghosting and provides high contrast images even in backlit conditions.

This lens benefits from a newly developed linear AF motor which moves the lens unit directly without the need for gears or the drive of other mechanical parts. This system ensures accurate and almost silent autofocusing, making the lens suitable for video recording as well as still photos. The AF unit is controlled by electromagnetics meaning it will only operate when power from the camera is sent to the lens. If the lens is not attached to the camera or the camera is switched off, the AF unit will move freely inside the lens.

The lens features a rounded 7 blade diaphragm creates an attractive, smooth blur to the out-of-focus parts of the image. The wide focus ring ensures improved usability when manually focusing and the minimum focusing distance of 20cm and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:7.4 make it ideal for close-up photography.

While not as sharp as its 30mm stablemate, this 19mm (28.5mm equivelent on NEX) ia an excellent and inexpensive option for wide angled photography on the Sony NEX/E-Mount platform. The colours and contrast are good and the lens seems well made. Compared to equivalent lenses on my Canon EOS system this is a real bargain.

This lens fitted my requirements for a wide-angle lens for general street photography, at an excellent price. I had been considering getting a lens very much more expensive than this, but I am glad I went for this one. The main thing it does not have is optical shake elimination on the Sony Nex cameras. I do not miss this at all, and I now have this lens on my Nex7 as standard. Optical quality is satisfactory for my needs.

Geat for lanscapes with a glass quality that doesnt warrant its low price, I had seen reviews complining of the constructiopn but mine is no bad build at all and hardly ratles, it is a bargain that produce quality pictures that much more expensive lenses cannot match, get one.

Just what I needed for flower studies. Colours are brilliant but accurate, with good contrast but not exaggerated. Flare is well controlled.
