Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

If you're not content with just watching Hulk on the screen or reading about him in comics and want to be the big green beast--and if you like the punishment of super villainy to involve as much collateral damage as possible--then step right up for some true video gaming mayhem. Based loosely on the Ang Lee movie, Hulk the game casts you as the weedy Bruce Banner, who rather inconveniently turns into a giant green monster whenever he gets annoyed (good job he doesn't take the London Underground to work or he'd burst a blood vessel).

Although the movie features only human bad guys the video game features a number of the Hulk's comic-book enemies, including big-headed bad guy the Leader. At first glimpse the game appears to be a fairly ordinary 3-D scrolling beat-'em-up, but it manages to spice things up via the fact that you actually spend a significant part of the game as Bruce Banner, sneaking around army labs and the like in a manner that would make Solid Snake proud.

No doubt Hulk combat is what you're really interested in, and here the game doesn't disappoint, with lots of moves and the ability to destroy just about anything within reach, including walls and even the floor beneath you. Simplistic it may be, but it's good fun for those with a short attention span. --David Jenkins

Manufacturer's Description

Hulk the game takes place one year after the events in Hulk the movie. Troubled scientist Bruce Banner and his enraged alter ego the Hulk are forced into battle against the terrifying forces of the Leader, who's intent on using the Hulk's gamma energy to unleash a relentless army of gamma creatures on the world.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hulk smash!, 18 Oct 2010

Mr. A. Mcgrath "Of Chaos" (Eldwick UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Hulk (GameCube) (Video Game)
The big green machine is here. And he's madder than ever.

I'm playing this on my Wii and I never played it on the Gamecube but I am very impressed. This is a hidden gem.

Never before in gaming have you actually felt like an unstoppable monster like marvels creation. Being the Hulk is so satisfying, as you are able to destroy most things around you. Objects like cars become weapons as you swing them at your enemies.

The graphics are decent, with a nice cell shaded effect, which makes it seem as if you are roaming around in a comic book world. The characters and areas are well designed and have that great marvel feel to them.

There is one down side to this game and thats the stealthy Bruce Banner sections. They aren't that bad but it isn't what you want from a Hulk game. You want wanton destruction, not sneaking around. Luckily these bits are few and far between.

The story is very good. Its set just after the film (the story in this Game is much better than that of the film) and see's Bruce trying to find a cure to the gamma radiation accident that made him the Hulk. Many famous and not so famous Hulk rivals pop up through out this game, to cause the Hulk some grief.

This game is serious fun and gives the most satisfying Hulk experience to date.

If you are a comic fan or just want a great game to wind down with after a hard day at the office, you can't go wrong with this one.

3.0 out of 5 stars Camera Control, anyone??, 8 July 2003
By
This review is from: Hulk (GameCube) (Video Game)
Right, first of all, I am a fan of Marvel comics, so I was already predisposed to buy this game, and for the most part, things started off OK.

The cel shading effect works quite well, and there is fun to be had running round as the Hulk, beating the living daylightsout of everything that moves (and things that don't, in this case).

However, the gameplay soon becomes repetitive as you find yourself using the same button-bash combination over and over and over....I think you get the picture.

But this is not my main gripe - that accolade has been reserved for the chronic camera angles present within the 3D environment. Unlike Zelda or Mario which would allow you to rotate the camera so you could see what you were doing, the game designers obviously couldn't be bothered. Turning a corner can be a hit-and-miss affair which can result in the Hulk running back the way he came and flipping the angle again.

Getting stuck on corners in a fight is no fun either!

There are some hidden extras to unlock, such as different game modes or the ability to play as Gray Hulk, as well as the standard cheats for invulnerability and a few "making of"s and game trailers, but nothing really special to warrant playing through it again. Having said that, re-play wouldn't take too long - I finished it in just over a day.

Overall, a basic game that doesn't quite cut it, I'm afraid
