Black & Bruised thrusts players into the colourful world of 18 boxers and 18 different arenas. High-quality cartoon cel-shading technology showcases the game's cartoon-like visuals and cleverly exaggerates gameplay. The game features pressure sensitive controls, which are easy to learn but hard to master, and provide players with a full sense of control over their boxers. Player immersion is further heightened with the use of skeletal motion and skin morphing technology which creates fluid character movements.
Players learn the life story of each boxer and how winning will benefit them. Characters are differentiated not only by their look, but by their individual personalities, which are enhanced by the game's advanced AI system. More than 30 unique and detailed facial animations are used to convey the boxer's mood and reaction to landed punches. Additional game features include five modes of play (Training, Single, Championship, Survival and Two-Player), a choice of first-person or close-up third-person camera viewpoints and Boxer's Life mode, which offers full motion video updates to reflect the impact of the fight's outcome on the character's life. Special effects include stars, perspiration, particle effects and explosions that indicate the effectiveness of a particular punch.

A first look at black and bruised suggest a kiddies boxing game which a cartooney graphics & Charecter design. However when you actually play this game you will find that this game actually has a depth and reply factor not useally found in games of this ilk. You start with a 1,2 Player & Practice modes but you find this game has 3 other different modes to challenge these include Survival, Boxers Life & Tournament modes. Survival is your basic Fight-Till-You Drop mode which allowes you to fight till you lose. The Tournament modes allows you to complete in progressive difficulty tournaments. While for those who like a twistthere is Boxers Life which makes you fight with certain objectives bieng requires e.g Win whithin 3 rounds and fighting while poisioned. A wide range of charecters allow you to pick a fighter that best suits you while a power up system used in the fight allows the little bit of strategy some gamers require. Charecters have there own quips and one liners to maintain the humour of the game and there are plenty too unlock through the course of the game.The graphics are cel shaded and therefore are sharp and well designed and the detail such as brusing and black eyes are a nice touch. The controls are simple but the combo system can be quite fustrating at times with you bieng required to press numerous buttons both in an A,B and an A+B simultatition in a very short space of time which can lead to confusion.
The one-liners while humerous are few and the difficulty curve is quite dramatic within this game which will make it harder for younger gamers. Overall while the game can be fustrating as a single player the power up system and the different modes along with the cartoony look make this a good game for having friends round for a game or two without too much hassle.

if you're looking for a game purely for solid boxing mechanics, then this one is probably not the best choice. not that it isn't a fun boxing game its just it may not compare to some of the other titles out there. what this game is great for however is for entertainment. Almost all of the characters are unique and funny, and the story mode is enjoyable to play for each boxer. considering how cheap this game seems to be going for i would definetly say you should buy it, but don't expect the best boxing experience out there.
