I purchased this set after reading the reviews in 'Which' magazine. I also read the previous review on this site which was less complementary.
The 'quad' set I received was actually a triple set with an extra extension - but no matter I glanced at the quick guide and unpacked the units. Registering the handsets with the base unit was simple (and just involved docking them with the base station. You can rename them to meaningful names which in my case was room names (interesting to see where your phones move around to as well!). So all phones plugged in and working - how about the answerphone. Recording the message was really simple. So now for caller Id and text messaging. This is more about setting up your provider than the phone - so off to BT's site to request Caller Id, and found on there that you turn on text messaging by just sending a text. So that was it - 4 phones installed, answerphone set-up caller id working and text messaging working in about 20 minutes. It took me another 30 minutes to add in my phone list of users (which is then simple to transfer to all handsets. I suppose a SIM card reader would be useful for this - but I needed to clean up the phone lists in any case so wasn't a problem. And how does it work - well - it just works without thinking about it. Handset is crystal clear (and I am using the ECO mode!). My wife found it intuitive enough to go through the various answerphone, missed calls and text lists easily, teaching or reading the guide. It has some other functions that I personally will never find a use for (alarm, room monitor, setting times for the answerphone to come one and off, etc.) but it is easy to ignore them. It would be easy to find ways to complain that it should be more flexible (allowing pictures to be loaded on there as wallpapers, and loading your own ring tones, but that would be unfair. This is an excellent and easy to use phone that I would recommend to anyone.

Bought gigaset C475 quad to replace BT synergy 3505.
Gigaset suffered from very high level 'static' interference at my end. Impossible to make a call. Eventually found source of interference. When I disconnected the broadband modem of my wife's computer the static disappeared. I contacted Siemens customer care and after some mildly evasive answers, finally established that 'this is not an unknown problem' My old phone system (BT synergy) works fine and the modem to our other computer (different type, AOL)does not cause a problem. It seems that the culprit is the modem supplied by Orange. This is Inventel DV4210-WU. Siemen's suggest changing the modem. I bought this set because 'Which' gave it top rating but it turns out to have a dire fault. If I want to use it I have to replace the Orange modem! If you have Orange broadband, steer clear of these phones. It is also possible that other modems are incompatible too, anyone out there with similar problems? Gave it 2 stars for appearance. Looks good but doesn't work. Update. Changed all microfilters on telephone line connections on further advice from Siemen's helpline. This resolved the problem even with the Orange modem connected.Siemens suggested one of filters was probably faulty. Don't know why this did not affect my BT system though. Have not had much time to try them out but would now rate them as at least a 4 star. Excellent clarity and lots of handy features.

After reading 'Which' review, I bought this set of phones which fully reached all expectations. The following week I bought another set for my daughters home. I cannot believe the length of time it takes before the battery needs recharging; this was the first big plus. The answer facility, the phones image and its ability to do so much more than my previous BT units, more than justify their purchase. One of the features I most enjoyed, was the ease with which I could copy phone numbers from one phone to another. Finally, the only suppliers we could find for this unit were Ligo in Scotland, who supply them through Amazon. Ligo were terrific! Ordered one day and arrived the next, for both sets of phones although only the cheapest delivery was requested.
