And just in time for Punks's silver Jubilee next year!! Yeah, the Pistols and the Clash "hated" eachother but that's so not the point. Opener "Love Kills"- the film's subtitle- is a great, rocky number (Joe Strummer- the Clash- apparently penned it in 5 mins after fallingout with director Alex Cox)and provides a much welcome antidote to the angsty ramblings that make up the rest of this record. However, it's the Pogues and Pray For Rain that really make this soundtrack so covetable. On 'Haunted' the haunting (!) melodies and Cait O'Riordan's (of The Pogues) fragile vocals totally compliment the eponymously titled film scenes, 'Burning Room' etc. While Gary Oldman does a smashing job as "Sid" both on-screen and on-record, covering The Stooges/Iggy Pop's 'I wanna be your dog' and, of course, 'My Way'. Buy this amazing soundtrack before it gets deleted again- check out amazon.com reviews of it and you'll see just what I mean. 5 STARS!!!

`Sid and Nancy: Love Kills' is the fictionalised account of Sid Vicious relationship with Nancy Spungen, their decent into drug addiction and the eventual murder of Spungen by Vicious prior to his suicide awaiting trial. The comparisons the makers drew with Romeo and Juliet were only ever going to draw criticism.

A film of a Punk icon should of course have a stellar soundtrack and so
Joe Strummer, recently escaped from the debacle of The Clash's unfortunate finale LP, was keen to lend and receive some kudos from his association with the film. Despite the drum machine being used on the films title song `Love Kills' Strummer manages a creditable performance but his second contribution `Dum Dum Club' is a much better Strummer recording. Circle Jerks (featuring later Strummer collaborator Zander Schloss) also provide a song `Love Kills' to the soundtrack which fails to stand head and shoulders with Strummers.

Steve Jones was no doubt approached to contribute to get some acceptance from the Pistols camp as `Pleasure and Pain' was not included due to its majesty, it's heavy on pain but light on pleasure.

Elder punk statesman and ex-Velvet Underground man John Cale's `She Never Took No for an Answer' falls well short of his usual work and sounds like a man eager to draw a cheque.

The Pogues contributions are the highlight of the album with `Haunted' being a great, er haunting, love song with Cait O'Riordan's brilliant vocal performance bring the fragility of the song alight. Their instrumental `Junk Theme' is one of the better pieces of the score included here and it easily overshadows Pray For Rain whom contributed the bulk of the score.

And just in time for Punk's Silver Jubilee. This is not strictly a punk record and the Clash and Pistols might have "hated" each other- but that's not the point. Joe Strummer penned opener 'Love Kills', the film's sub-title is a great rocky number that, alone, makes this record worthwhile. But it's songs by The Pogues and Pray for Rain that make it so covetable. On 'Haunted' Pogues singer Cait O'Riordan's fragile vocals and the haunting melodies blow you away. Similarly, 'Burning Room' and 'Taxi To Heaven' emphasise the tension and tragedy of the scenes they were written for. Mention must be made of Gary Oldman's impressive versions of Iggy Pop's/The Stooges' 'I wanna be Your Dog' and, of course, 'My Way'. Buy this (up till now) much missed soundtrack, and you'll understand what all the fuss is about.

Nothing to add to what has been said about the movie itself, the performance by Gary Oldman, and this soundtrack. Which is excellent and can be played over and over. However, I wonder if it really does include all of the songs. I have somewhere the original vinyl album and I should find the time check. I am under the impression something is missing. Anyway, as I said, excellent music and perforrmers - go for it.

Brilliant Soundtrack MUST be re-issues, please, please! 14 April 2000
By William Vargas - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
When I lent out my tape to a friend and never saw it again, I was very angry. Now I can't find the CD or tape or anything and I am heartbroken. This soundtrack must be re-issued. I cannot live without the angst-ridden fury of Circle Jerk's Love Kills, or Steve Jones, or the Pogues. UHHHHHHHHHH! Bring it back. Re-unite my Repo Man Soundtrack with its brilliant companion.

I've been a Gary Oldman fan for quite some time now. I have searched EVERYWHERE in vain for the soundtrack to Sid & Nancy. Imagine my delight when I thought I'd found the CD, only to be informed that it's no longer available. What torture! Please re-issue the CD!

Love Kills And So Does Not Being Able to Get This CD 3 Jun. 2000
By Jay George - Published on Amazon.com

This is an excellent post-Punk blend with bite and with soul. It illustrates, none too gently, the futility and sadness of two wasted lives. All the artists on the album give an extremely good accounting of themselves. There's not a weak track to be found. My cassette tape is long gone, but I'm still haunted by the music. I'd love to hear it again.
