The excerpts from writings through the ages creates an atmospheric vision of the historical and cultural features of this fascinating island. Horatio Clare expertly links these writings from the time of the Greeks, Arabs, Romans, Normans, Spanish and British with his own perceptive insights and deep knowledge and love of Sicily. The book reveals more of the true nature of the island than any guidebook can do.
