WOW What a Read! 26 Oct 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I havent read anything Jane Porter before but I will be in future. This was one of the best storylines I have ever read within a M&B. Passion, mystery, drama and a dramatic ending. A perfect read all round. I only gave it 4 stars as I didnt really like the way Vittorio took the care of the baby away from Jill to begin with.

Jane Porter has written one intense and glorious romance with a Dark Sicilian Secret.

Like the heroine with her alias of Jillian Smith, I actually believed as she did that her ex-lover Vittorio d'Severano was part of the Sicilian Mafia. He certainly was powerful and ruthless as far as a successful business man. It was obvious after reading several chapters that he had once loved Jillian. However, now he had tracked Jillian and his infant son down in California and he was determined to take his son back home to Italy and to his family. The hell with Jillian's feelings because she had hidden the fact that he was a father. So no matter how she felt, she could come home with him and marry him or else!

Vittorio actually months earlier felt she was the one. He had cared for her like no other woman. But he put down firm ground rules she was to follow or he would take his son from her. He just needed to remember she had lied and she had run and cut up his heart in the process. She couldn't resist telling him it would kill her if their son turned out like him. But he was sick of the rumors that he was a part of the mafia, because he knew he wasn't. Yes, he had some secrets but he was not a criminal. Her words cut through him. But one learned later she had a reason to fear and hate the mob, because her own father had been a member and a killer. Plus the fact that her sister had died because of him and Jillian ran and feared her family in America would find and hurt her and her baby. When she finally had the courage to tell Vitt who her father was, he felt sick because the man was a monster.

Would Jillian ever stop being afraid, would she ever trust her husband? In the end, Jillian realized that Vitt was loyal, worked hard for his family and worked even harder trying to dispel the thoughts that they were part of the crime world. Watching him with his son and family she realized she again loved him and trusted his integrity. She also realized the most important, that Vitt wasn't a threat it was her family who were the threat and she found out in a most bizarre way. You'll just have to hold on to your seat while reading the final chapters because it's full of action, fear and threats. A Dark Sicilian Secret applied more to Jillian than Vitt and was an excellent read.

Loved it!! 2 Aug 2011
By Lee Hyat - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I love Jane Porter's books and this was another one that kept me up, reading it all in one sitting. I adored Vitt. I fell for him from the minute he made an appearance in the story. I only wish the book had been longer! Porter has combined all the drama and passion readers have come to expect from a Harlequin Presents and delivered it in a well-crafted, unforgettable sexy read! If you love hot, intensely passionate and heart-wrenching stories, don't miss this one!

Hot Romance 2 Aug 2011
By Donna McBroom-Theriot - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
It's been a long time since I've picked up a Harlequin Romance Novel. Jane Porter's `A Dark Sicilian Secret' reminded me why I loved them so much. After all, what red-blooded woman wouldn't want a tall, dark, and handsome man to sweep her off her feet. That's exactly what happens to Jillian Smith.

Raised the daughter of a mob king pen, she lives her childhood in witness protection. Graduating from college, she escapes to Europe where she meets Vittorio d'Severano. She flees upon learning he may be the head of the notorious d'Severano family.

But, she soon finds out that you can run, but you cannot hide from a ruthless man, especially when you are hiding his infant son.

The book has awesome love scenes (I won't be staying away so long this time) and just enough suspense to keep you intrigue. For all of you Harlequin fans, you will definitely want to pick this one up.
