Product Description

An unhappily married woman (Kirstie Alley) has sex with a perfect stranger in a hotel room. When the stranger dies of a heart attack, she flees, leaving her wallet. A venetian blinds salesman stumbles into the room and mistakenly thinks he's killed the man. He contacts Alley, who, as if she hasn't got enough problems, realises the dead stranger is her brother-in-law.

5.0 out of 5 stars Undemanding fun 28 Sep 2006
Format:DVD
I found an old VHS tape of this taken from Sky Movies.

I remember hearing about this and thinking that it sounded like a dull drama.

Turns out it's a farce with elements of screwball comedy.

I enjoyed it a lot. It's no classic and the climax is kind of under played when it really should have gone off the rails into people screaming insults at each other.

It was very enjoyable with a cast of very likable characters. It might not be one of the greatest movies ever made, but I loved it. I would recommend it to anyone who likes any of the actors in the strangely impressive cast.

It was very odd to see the Stranger from the Big Lebowski, with moustache, turn up in another movie!

5.0 out of 5 stars You left your front door open 27 May 2005

Marjorie (Crystan Leas) started life with a rebel attitude. After getting married her (Kirstie Alley) life was defined as "the wife" of Harry Turner. Harry is one of many doctors in the turner family and he himself is ignored for the most part. With encouragement form her sister Jeanine (Jami Gertz), and a chanced encounter with a stranger, she is persuaded to break out of her shell. She does and so sets many strange relationships in motion.

You may guess the plot but you will never keep up with the twists and turns in this comedy. Over shadowed at first by the other actors and the plot, it is Bill Pullman that pulls this al together as the "blind salesman." He becomes the catalyst for all the other sub plots.

Ed O'Neill plays Capt. Wilbur Meany, an aspiring police officer and a down right good guy. It takes a little time to not think of hem as Al Bundy (Married With Children ASIN: 6302597552.)

There are more interesting parts to this movie; but something that I keep remembering is after Marjorie Turner played by Kirstie Alley confesses to her sister that she took her advice and starts down stars she pushes her way through the crowd saying " I'm saying excuse me!" With that Kirstie voice.

Carrie Fisher (Appointment With Death ASIN: 0790741318) plays a convincing antagonist.

Fantastic DVD, its so funny. My 84 year old mother watched it and she enjoyed it also. There are many well known actors in it.
