I have read and seen Mystic River and thought both book and film were fantastic. I went to the cinema Thursday to see Shutter Island and what a let down. I really enjoy Scorse and Di Caprio but this was a big miss as far as I was concerned. Can anyone who has read the book and seen the film tell me whether its worth giving the book a go now? Also generally speaking what other novels would people recommend?
Oh dear, you poor thing. :( I read the book and THEN saw the movie and I felt like someone took the best story ever and turned it into a John Grisham novel. No offense to Mr. Grisham but this story is amazing in the book. Like, I'm pretty sure even you knew what was coming in the movie, in the book you really don't expect the ending and it gives you much more than the ending in the movie. I'm a great Lehane fan so I was offended with what Scorsese had done with this brilliant story. Bleh.
Bottomline: READ THE BOOK. And beforehand, try to get a lobotomy and forget about the movie. LOL
Have you seen/read Gone baby gone? Same thing, read the book first, then watch the movie. :) Good luck and hope you enjoy it!
Shutter Island This is the first book that i've read by Dennis Lehane and i must say i really enjoyed it so much so that i'm looking about in library for more of his books. I have't seen the film but have heard that it's a big let down compared to the book. My advise is to read his book 1st as it's a really good read and you wont be dissapointed
