4.0 out of 5 stars Almost as good as professional 18 Jan 2009
I've used a few microphones in the past but this is by far the best. It records excellecnt quality even when recording drums which is one thing we use it for.

Definately a must have.

5.0 out of 5 stars An affordable Microphone. 20 Jun 2007
By A. Cox
What's the difference between the Shure SM58 and the Shure C606?

Only the price really! This microphone delivers truely amazing sound. Why pay all that money for an SM58 when the C606 gives pretty much the same sound?

If you're looking to setup your own home studio on a small budget, or whether you just want a good priced, quality mic - then this is certainly the best option for you.

The mic has an on and off button and connects by XLR - use a mic guard and hey presto!

10 out of 10!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pay less but get just as much 7 April 2010
By T. Faux
Following on from one of the reviews, I bought an XLR to 35mm lead at the same time that I bought this mic, but I should have waited until I had got the mic because I needn't have bought the extra lead - the lead that comes with the mic is a female XLR to 1/8" (35mm) connection, but also included is a 1/4" adaptor so there is no need to buy another cable to attach to your standard computer connections. The lead is 4.5 metres (15 feet).

Great mic - buy this one and get the same sound and quality as the 89 one!! Well worth it.

NOTE: One buyer has kindly commented that he did not receive the adaptor with his product - when I bought this, it did include the adaptor, so you might want to be careful that they haven't changed their packaging/product details.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shure Does An Excellent Job 22 May 2010
The Shure C606 microphone is quite simply one of the best microphones i've ever heard in my life and for this price? I had a microphone that cost over 60 and I was extremely disappointed with it so I went looking. I read the reviews about this mic on amazon and i'm so glad I decided on this one. Essentially, I needed a microphone to do computer recording of podcasts, jingles, adverts etc and since i've got this microphone, i've just been curning them out.

The mic comes in a nice looking red box, well padded and with the appropriate lead to plug straight into a mixer or computer. The mic itself is black of course but looks very nice and feels great. Nice weight, doesn't feel cheap. You plug it in and you're transformed. The sound is crystal clear - I use audacity as my main computer recording software and yes, you'll have to do some minor cleaning up as you do with all recordings. You should also invest in a decent pop shield as this microphone is super sensitive when you're right in front of it. If you're tempted to buy anything more expensive than this simply to do some recording, don't! This is going to do exactly what you need it to do. I'm not into techmincal data like some people are, all I can tell you is ... this is money well spent ... buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Are you shure its not a SM58? 16 Feb 2010
By Digger
Yes. I've got to concur with the other reviewers. After my SM58 went AWOL, I didn't feel flush enough to purchase another one and settled on purchasing its much cheaper (-70 ish) stable mate. I must say that the difference in quality is not obvious on my equipment (a Boss BR digital recorder)and it seems to pick up my acoustic instruments with the same brightness and depth. It's a shame the lead goes to a jack rather than XLR, but unless you've got really high quality professional gear, I suggest this will do very nicely.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!! 10 Sep 2010
Believe the other reviews - it IS that good! Shockingly so for the price. At least two other people have bought this on my glowing recommendation! Perhaps Shure should've given me a free 100 model and I wouldve pushed a few of them for them too!

The sound is rich and warm and so so clear. As I'm sure I read countless times before..'Why buy the dearer one?' Shure will pick up on this at some point im SURE! Couldnt resist that one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great quality at a great price 8 Mar 2010
Overall this is a great vocal microphone which all but the fussiest will have a quarrel with over the quality.
Maybe it has just a bit of a gritty edge to it that a SM58 doesn't have but you need keen hearing to detect it.
If you have a good voice you will sound good through this microphone. If your voice has questionable quality then a SM58 aint gonna make it sound any better.
It comes with a 1/4 inch jack lead and I would have preferred a XLR connection. It's packaged in a cardboard box, which is not really re-usable for storage purposes. I bought this for a backing singer in my group - I am quite happy to use it for a lead vocal. It's got a nice feel to it.

4.0 out of 5 stars I like this mic - but not the switch !
This is a great mike - I think under-rated. It has a crisp sound, not at all 'muddy'. It is perhaps a little lacking at the low frequencies, but that's all a matter of taste . Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Good value microphone
For the price these are great microphones. They are robust and well made and I like the on-off switch. Probably want to spend more for professional work.

I wanted something like a Sure SM58 but without the price tag. And this is it! Construction is pretty solid (not quite as good as an SM58). Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent Mic for the Price
I was skeptical at first but it performs well for the price.

Decent pop filter which takes the sting out at the key times.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Solid mic
The mic itself is a cost effective solution for those in need of a reasonable microphone with a switch. I now have two of these and can confirm similar build quality to an SM58. Read more

Not sure how good this mic would be for recording vocals for a track, but for podcasting it's perfect. The quality is great considering the value. Read more
