4.0 out of 5 stars A Thrilling Treat 15 Mar 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
After finishing Charles Shea's last book (Defending Evil) I could not wait to read his latest offering.
In this title we follow 'Brikler' a hard ass detective who 'features' in Defending Evil, as he tries to track down a twisted killer whilst under increasing pressure from his superiors and the press.
I love the use of characters from Shea's previous book as 'Brikler' has a definite 'Jimmy Mcnulty' from The Wire TV show about him, which hopefully Shea will expand on in later books.
At an incredible price of just .70p its time to stop reading the review and get on with reading this title.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for me 21 July 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Couldn't get past the first 100 pages - I'm not entering into details about the writing style or the literary value. I just hated the characters: narrow minded, bigot, thoroughly unlovable all in all. There's no one I would want to spend an hour with, which is a good measure of how interesting a fictional characters is. But I realise this is a personal reaction, so take it as such.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant 17 Jun 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I loved his first book, and I loved this one too. Wonderfully clever story construction with strong, totally believable characters. And with that twist that sets a really top class story apart from the also-rans.
I don't want to go into any more detail for fear of giving away the plot, so I'll just say...don't miss this book. At the price, its a give-away.

2.0 out of 5 stars Storyline? 22 May 2013
By Julie
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
More than halfway through, and I'll change this review if my mind is changed by the end, but it's information rich (do I really care what every single person is wearing or what kind of phone they have?) And story line poor. I'm still not entirely sure what it's about. Hopefully there will be a point by the end!
