5.0 out of 5 stars long awaited and definitely worth it., 10 Aug 2003

This review is from: Shrine - the Rarest Soul Label Vol.2 (Audio CD)
It has been a while since the first compilation of "RAREST SOUL LABEL" offerings from KENT.Well worth it too! SHRINE TWO includes other groups and artists from the previous c/d ie the CAIROS and JD BRYANT of which are mega rarities that are massive within the Northern Scene as we speak.I pricked my ears up at the one that has been massive for a while now down at the 100 club in london "BOBBY REED-CALEDONIA BROWN" also the mega rare "COUNTS-PEACHES BABY".Oh the wonders of c/d compilations allowing us to be offered tunes that would have never been heard only at a few clubs around the rare northern scene of which avid collectors have spent either a lot of time and money trying to discover them. This tells you that it is definitely worth buying as was the first outing from Shrine and the main interest is that Shrine has a significance with Motown.Add this to your collection as i will.Lets not wait too long for vol 3.

A Kid's Review - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Shrine - the Rarest Soul Label Vol.2 (Audio CD)
When I received the Shrine Records collection Vol. 1 and 2, directly from Amazon.com and referred to me by a close friend (himself a long-time collector of sweet soul music from the 60s-70s), I was literally "chomping-at-the-bit" to put it on! Well, I wasn't disappointed one bit. Admittedly, many of the artists were beyond obscure (the label only lasted a few years, from our nation's capitol, Washington, DC) but the music itself was sublime, danceable to be sure but the hookd were amazing. Especially the JD Bryant and Ray Pollard stuff! I have played both cds at least 5 times since I first got it in early January and I will be playing soon again, especially the 14th, when my imaginary girlfriend comes along. Oh well!
