Like...well, wow! This is a total feel good album that could probally stand on its own legs without the help of the movie. This is a seriously good complimation of songs with a song for everyone; rock, pop, ballad and, though it's a bit thin on the ground, an origanal orchestrated piece is included. The standout tracks, in my opinion, are I'm on my Way (The Proclaimers, whose album Sunshine on Leith I strong recommend to search out) and everyones favorite, Rufus Wainwright's Hallelujah. I also think Jason Wade's You Belong to Me deserves a mention as being just a good as ballad as Hallelujah and is garanteed to get anyone in a slushy mood! And for those who aren't into ballads, there's other great tracks such as the amazing Bad Reputation, which I love dispite usually hating this kind of thing. Great film and great album!

If you found yourself drumming your fingers or tapping your toes during the film then this CD is for you. All the featured tracks are here and they are upbeat, fun and great Summer listening. Eddie Murphy's cover of "I'm a believer" is extremely well done and you are right back in the cinema! Personal favourites include "All Star" and "Like Wow" - great for dancing round the house to (when no-one is looking if you dance like me!). And then there is the more mellow and haunting "Hallelujah" which is even more powerful as a track than it was in the movie. This album is well laid out (rather than sticking to the film order for the music) and like the film has something for everyone. Even the Proclaimers are in there (where HAVE they been?. If you enjoyed the film you'll love this - betcha can't keep your feet still!......

If you've seen the funniest animated movie for a long time then you'll know the music helped make Shrek a success. Some excellent foot tapping tracks, which take you right back to the film. Its also well worth listening to whilst driving as it certainly motors along. My only criticism is that it's a bit short, just under 40 minutes

Although I absolutely adored the film, I hesitated over buying the soundtrack. However, it's well worth it! Dana Glover singing "It is you I have loved" is one of the most moving songs I've ever heard and The Proclaimers "I'm on my way" can't fail to cheer you up! Every song on this album reminds you of a classic part in the movie. Although there are some witty songs on the soundtrack, it's all music with total heart. If you loved the film, you'll LOVE this.

A fantastic soundtrack to a fantastic and funny animated film, the best i have seen for a while. A good range of singers especially the performance by the Proclaimers with 'I'm on my way'. Although you really have to see the film to follow the soundtrack and see how the songs fit in, i still reccomend buying it to those who may not have seen it yet.

I absolutely love the first Shrek film. My favourite song from the soundtrack is 'Hallelujah', I think it's wonderful. However, if you want the version used in the film don't(!) buy this soundtrack. The version actually used in the film is not the one on this soundtrack. The soundtrack has a Rufus Wainwright version, but the one used in the film is by John Cale. If you want this one, get the soundtrack for 'Basquiat' (check out youtube if you're not sure). Apart from this, there are several really nice songs on this soundtrack, so enjoy!

This album has everyting - a range of songs to suit most musical tastes. 'Hallelujah' by Rufus Wainwright is wonderful, and 'You Belong To Me' by Jason Wade is now a very special song to me.
Smashmouth and the Baha Men,and the exciteable Eddie Murphy, on the other hand, lift the tempo, and you can't help but laugh and sing along.
I only wish Shrek's Karaoke Dance Party was on the album too - it's such a great track, and would have made the album totally perfect.

My family and I loved the movie Shrek (of course!), and for Christmas my eleven-year-old daughter asked for this soundtrack. We got it for her, and we are all very happy! The songs sound wonderful: crisp and clear. My whole family recommends this wonderful CD to you.
Plus, I must say that with this soundtrack is so wonderful that I would recommend it even to those who have never seen the movie. It's absolutely great!
