Dutton Epoch presents the BBC Concert Orchestra's 'Showtime', which in fact is a typical presentation of their regular BBC Friday Night is Music Night broadcast. This release celebrates the 25th anniversary of the BBC Concert Orchestra's Supporters Club, and is heralded by William Walton's stirring march Crown Imperial and closed with Eric Coates's familiar Calling All Workers. This varied selection of light music ranges from Kenneth Alford's The Two Imps and Richard Hayman's 'Pops'' Hoedown, to film music including Ron Goodwin's 'Aces High' from The Battle of Britain and Miklos Rozsa's music from Ben-Hur, and features Gordon Langford's gorgeous pot-pourri of popular numbers from shows from Carousel to Hello, Dolly. Over an hour of tuneful numbers played with characteristic Concert Orchestra style.
