Good material does not date,

There are several albums on offer for Showboat. This version was chosen as it seemed to have all of the songs that usually feature if you see it on stage these days. It seems to be one of those musicals that have been tinkered with a bit over the years - some songs being replaced by others. Beware of other albums that only feature a few songs from Showboat and then top it up with songs, often by the same singers, that have nothing at all to do with this musical. Do not let the age of these recordings put you off - this version features some fine performances and is good value.
