Downliners Sect - 'Showbiz' (Indigo) 26 Oct. 2009
By Mike Reed - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
First I ever even heard of this long running British rhythm and blues rock ensemble was when I was listening to the 'Nuggets 2' 4-CD box set. 'Showbiz' is a 1979 reunion album - with all covers by Clemson & Evans and Paul Tiller. Tracks I got the most out of were "Wild Time", the wailing "Mismanagrment", the cool instrumental "Downloading", title cut "Showbiz", "Playing My Guitar" and "Loose Ends". Line-up includes three original members - Don Craine & Terry Gibson-guitar & vocals, Keith Grant-bass & vocals along with Paul Tiller-harmonica & vocals and Paul Holm-drums. Should appeal to fans of the Pretty Things, early Stones, Small Faces, Yardbirds, the Action and possibly Q 65.
