Product Description

Meet Harriet Houdini, a young rabbit with lots of attitude, as she settles into life with her new family. Never destined to be a boring bunny, Harriet finds herself scouted by the producer of hit TV show Superpets and starts her career on the showbiz ladder. From daring backflips to thrilling escape attempts Harriet really is a Stunt Bunny extraordinaire!

About the Author

Tamsyn Murray spent her childhood moving around a lot, from Truro in Cornwall to a village called Norham in Northumberland (which is probably as far from Cornwall as it's possible to get and still be in England) and then on to the Lake District. At eighteen she left home to go to university in London and has been a Londoner ever since. When she's not working or writing, she can be found singing and dancing with her local amateur dramatics society. She is currently thirty-six and a half years old and married to the loveliest man in the world. She has one daughter.

I am writing this review on behalf of my 7 year old daughter. She received this book for her birthday and has read it in 6 days. This is the first chapter book she has read all by herself. She loved it, she said it was so exciting that she couldn't wait to read the next bit. She has already ordered the next one with her own money. She is now keen to read other chapter books. Even school have noticed the increase in her confidence in reading.

So thank you Harriet and Tamsyn for a week of peace and quiet.

'Stunt Bunny' is a must-read if your kids like any of the following...
1) Pets (especially bunnies).
2) X-Factor, Britain's Got Talent and any other emotionally-charged talent show where you're rooting for the best act to win.
3) JLS (well, in particular the one from JLS that does those brilliant backflips).
So, if any of these apply then keep reading this review...

Firstly, it's worth saying that we read a lot of books in our house and this one has instantly become a new favourite.

'Stunt Bunny' begins simply enough with a typical family, buying a typical pet and the dad getting his finger bitten - typical. However, it doesn't take Harriet Houdini (as the bunny becomes known) long to escape. But, the book isn't about a tireless hunt for a lost bunny - it's much more fun than that. Instead, we get to know Harriet and find she's a smart bunny with some cool moves and some big dreams that might just come true.

The book is full of lovely observations on family life with a pet that kids can really relate to. And whilst it starts off at a gentle pace, it soon moves from the back garden to the racy world of TV studios and talent shows. So, will Harriet make it to top - I'm not telling you!

By Jenny, Wondrous Reads TOP 500 REVIEWER

I don't usually review books for an age group this young (5+), but I enjoyed Murray's YA debut, My So-Called Afterlife, so thought I'd give this one a go as a one-off change. One chapter in, I knew I'd made the right decision -- I was laughing my head off at Harriet's hutch antics, not to mention the fantastically funny illustrations by Lee Wildish.

Murray's writing is brilliant to read. It's amusing in the best way, and her characters are charming and intelligent animals with personalities that kids will love. Thanks to Harriet herself, as well as Smudge the family cat and Doodle the opera-singing Poodle, things are never dull in Showbiz Sensation.

This is exactly the kind of book I would have loved when I was little, and I'm sure any child reading it will enjoy it. I've never heard of a famous cartwheeling, somersaulting pet rabbit before, but if I could somehow own one, I would. Though I'd have to get it a really, really sturdy cage, for fear of an Alcatraz-like escape plan taking place.

Great stuff.
