I originally bought this with a certain amount of trepidation,i'd felt the three previous albums had been not as exciting as Moving Pictures/Signals and that it was recorded on the tour supporting my least favourite Rush album(at the time) really caused concern,I shouldnt have worried, its damn near flawless.

Essentially a best of the the mid 80's era ,this combines most of the best tracks, whilst a couple notably those from HOLD YOUR FIRE have improved in the live arena,Alex Lifeson on fire, more evident than on album.

From the moment the disc finishes you just want to put it on again.Highpoints the opener 'Big Money','Subdivisions',Time Stand Still' & 'Closer To The Heart'.

The DVD is even better with some archive tracks such as Temples of Syrinx/La Villa.. plus live favs 'Spirit Of Radio' & 'Tom Sawyer'

Most live Rush albums are a lesser product compared to their srudio work and until the epic 'Rock In Rio' album appeared I would have to say this was the best live Rush recording available. I have seen Rush live on countless occasions and this really captures the live sound better than previous attempts. Technically Rush come close to studio perfection in their live performances but there is enough variation and adaptation in their music to make these live recordings worth owning. If you went to see Rush on the UK leg of the Hold Your Fire tour when this album was recorded then it will also hold some nostalgic memories for you.

Its a great bunch of hi-tempo Rush tracks, it captures the energy of the Hold Your Fire tour and is very much worth buying.

Where do you start when talking about a live Rush show. To start with YES I was in the crowd and this was my first Rush concert, gig, live performance, baptism what ever you want to call it, and it is surly a life changing experience as I used to go to alot of gigs and will never look at them in the same light again. I still when looking at a live concert compare every gig to a Rush gig and I don't think that any one has beaten them. Infact they could blow most groups of the stage.
With a Rush concert you get raw energy with musical excellence backed by a technical light show.
Now here is a dilemma for you do you buy the CD or the DVD and to be honest I would go for the DVD as it is a very watchable and listenable which is rare for a live DVD.
But then again I brought them both.
