She makes the horror and futility nightmarishly real but not a cliche. Strong characters. Story line convincing & I really wanted to know what happened next all the way through.
I have always wondered why she chooses so many obviously American names. Just a read of the roll call of the war memorials for the First World War would give an authentic pool of names to choose from!
