It's taken around a month to finish the first book in the Commonwealth saga and I can't say I was particularly gripped. I'm not digging the idea that despite huge changes in human society so much stays the same.
I've got around 50-60 pages left to read and I'm aware that things are left with a cliff-hanger. My question is do I order the second book in the hope that it's a lot more action packed and exciting, or cut my losses and give up now?
For me it's been a bit like re-discovering The Mote in God's Eye but with 95% less action.
I'm guessing you may have already made your decision on this point, however I would strongly suggest giving the second book a try. There are a large variety of "action" scenes, and it brings a lot of resolution and closure to the overall story. I was very impressed, 5* rating from me.
