Amazon.co.uk Review
Once one has accepted its second-hand nature, the unique business gems--true secrets--that do not apply to other known business leaders are thin on the ground. This reviewer found three, of which two are attributable to Jack Welch and the other to Roger Stone. So here goes: 1. Don't do things in half measures (JW) 2. If you want to be content you should be a dog (RS) 3. Find good ideas, exaggerate and spread them around (JW).
All in all, Mr Crainer has made an achievement in conveying to his reader a concise summary of GE's corporate history under the helmsmanship of Jack Welch. However, insights about the man himself are missing. The natural conclusion one makes is that Jack Welch's secrets are enshrined within the endless examples of business observation made by Gurus and not within the psyche of the man himself. --Ade Adekola
