Book Description

Would you recognize a serial killer if you talked to one every day? Artist Lia Anderson doesn’t, and neither does anyone else who frequents the Mount Airy Dog Park. But a violent death brings Detective Peter Dourson into the close-knit group, and he is convinced someone is not who they seem. As the investigation uncovers secrets, Lia struggles to cope with warring emotions while a killer watches and plans.

5.0 out of 5 stars A most enjoyable read. 27 Nov. 2012

A lovely style of writing. She makes everything seem so real. The dog training tips came in handy too. I enjoyed this book so much that when I had finished it I went straight onto Amazon and downloaded her new book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice Doggified Story 14 Nov. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was quite a nice tale apart from a few murderous happenings !! Set among a group of people of all ages that visit the local dog park. One of their number is killed and I never guessed who did it !! It has a great ending that nicely leaves things open for a sequel as well....there were even tips on dog care interspersed throughout. Just my type of book.
I especially liked Viola's Song..... :)
She did use a term Geezlepete which I found aggravating after a couple of mentions, though, and there was the odd formatting error as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Barkingly Good 10 Nov. 2014
By Hisboss
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A nicely paced, interesting mystery thriller. Being a British dog owner I find it interesting to read about the wonderful dog park setups enjoyed in America and wished we had something similar here. So it good to read this book with its murders mixed with the social etiquette pertaining to the use of the park and learning about the characters, both human and canine, and trying to work out out who the killer was!

A very worthwhile and interesting read!

5.0 out of 5 stars woofingly great! 8 Mar. 2015
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Starts off with an anonymous person plotting to kill her husband, not in a cruel way, or for undue reasons! The plans are well thought out, IMO!
Switch to the main story and Lia is ear bashing her fellow dog owner Anna with her sorrowful tales of a boyfriend that’s a wannabe writer! Interject some doggy humour and this book starts off at a wonderful pace, full of bounce and intrigue.
I had a snort out loud moment at the thought of Anna teaching her furbaby, CarGo the Tibetan Mastiff, ballroom dancing.
There are some really good humour moments as well as a burgeoning romance that keeps you wanting until the end, no spoilers here!
The book is fast paced with no slow boggy bits, kept me really entertained.
The whodunit element to the story is gripping as Ms Newsome has the murderer doing a little inner dialogue in between chapters.
All the characters are well thought out and have great edges to them.
This is a very cleanly written book with no obvious errors, continuity issues or mistakes; my only comment is that the favourite swear word of the main character, Lia, is annoying!
I am so impressed that I have bought book no.2 already.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoyed this. Intrigue 5 Mar. 2015
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Really enjoyed this. Intrigue, romance and dogs - what's not to like? Contrary to what one two-star reviewer wrote, there are NO talking dogs and the plot isn't the least bit weird! We don't find out who dunnit, which means there's a sequel to look forward to.

4.0 out of 5 stars Murder mystery with lovely pooch characters 26 Mar. 2015
By Isbsey
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed this book. It was almost light reading but the next minute I was chewing my lip waiting for the answer to the "Whodunnit". However, I liked the twist at the end and immediately went and bought the next book in the series - "Drool Baby". Maybe I loved this book because I am an avid dog lover but I'm sure it wasn't just that because I read the book in under 12 hours so the story really drew me in and the dogs were just an added bonus that I enjoyed. I am 26% through the next book and so far it is drawing me in again with twists and interesting new characters
