This is a rather old but very good recording of the Symphony. The first movement - the heart of the Symphony - is unusually slow but very intense, truly symphonic in stature. The other two movements, are played with panache and very effective. Sound is good (it was initially issued in the 1960s on LP), clear and with plenty of immediacy. Sir Adrian was one of the most versatile of all conductors, and he proves very capable in this repertoire. The only quibble I would have is that a 30-something minutes Symphony is very short measure for a CD - but then, it is very inexpensive.
