More About the Author

Emily Benet is an award winning blogger and author. Her latest book, The Temp, is an 'unabashedly British' romantic comedy, which explores the idea you can be famous for anything if you shout loud enough about it...

Her debut book 'Shop Girl Diaries' began as a blog about working in her Mum's chaotic chandelier shop. It was commissioned as a book by Salt Publishing and later turned into a short film starring Katy Wix which was shown at The London Short Film Festival 2014.

Emily runs Blogging and Social Networking workshops, lectures at Universities and has contributed to numerous publications including Publishing Talk, Mslexia and Writers & Artists. Her guidebook Blogging for Beginners is available as an ebook.

Check our her weekly blog, join her Facebook Author Page or check out her Tweets. She can't promise to be serious though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Short stories for everyone 19 Sept. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a fantastic book, ideal for commuting or to read while waiting for dinner to cook! The stories are compact but complete. Emily Benet's characters are so easy to relate to that you can't help but get involved in every story you read. I do love that she can provide a social (and even political) commentary without being at all pretentious or "preachy". These are stories of substance that can still be light hearted, uplifting and easy to read.

The first book of Emily Benet's, that I read, was Shop Girl Diaries (Salt Modern Fiction S.). This is a brilliant and highly entertaining book. You HAVE to read it! I then went on to read her blog (also very amusing and insightful) and I can't wait for her next book to be published!

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant new talent 6 Sept. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
These stories are absolutely ideal for a half-hour/45-minute commute to or from work. They'll leave you with a smile on your face & a warm glow in your soul. My own favourites were the wonderfully inventive Conchita & The Mating Pigeons & the wryly observed Camouflage. The zip & flair of the narrative descriptions is matched at every turn by an unerring eye for cinematic detail, while the dialogue drips with the unintentional comedy of the everyday. On this showing, Emily Benet has the potential to be the 21st century's new Dorothy Parker. Highly recommended.

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Emily Benet's writing brilliantly captures subtle nuances of everyday life. The stories are amusing, touching or disturbing at times with very believable yet surprising punchlines. It is a gripping selection and I really enjoyed reading it - `Just a Scratch' and `The Repossession' my top favourites. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Emily Benet Short Stories for Busy Adults 12 Nov. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A friend recommended this book of short stories to me, and I'm glad I read it! Perfect for travelling or reading before bed, of which I did both. The characters in these stories have a depth to them that make you feel that you really understand their (sometimes questionable) motives, even in the short time you spend with them. Quirky, funny, occasionally disturbing and very entertaining! More please. Short Stories for Busy Adults
