Comment: A book which is in good overall condition. This means that it will be largely free of page markings, the spine will still be in solid, tight condition and there will be no pages which are missing from the book. The pages may have slightly turned corners but overall the book should be clean to touch and enjoyable to read.

This is the fifth in the series of 'Short' books. It is the second by Louise Cooper who wrote 'Short and Scary' in 2002. This book appeared 3 years later and is full of the same mix of short and spooky tales. They are great for reading silently in the book corner, reading during a wet playtime, for a teacher to illustrate a point succinctly or for a supply teacher or parent to read to their class/child. The book is like a box of chocolates; one tale is never enough. The stories seem to clamour out to be chosen and they provide an excellent complement to a longer class or bedtime story which is being read as a serial.

Have used 3 stories from this book so far in literacy lessons with my Year 5/6 class. They have been really engaged by the twists of some of the plots and the suspense and tension each story has created. It has provided excellent inspiration for some fanastic spooky mystery stories.

I love this series of books - Some stories are better than others - children enjoy them because they are short.

Was recommended this to use as a resource for " guided reading" in school. Short texts to pick through and draw some good questioning from .

Stories just one. Or 2 pages which is just too short to be good.

great book, just right for 8-11 yrs.
Stories short enough to be read to each on during pyjama parties.
Every story is about 2 pages long and easy to read.
