Product Description

Product Description

Ranko Tsukigime, the only child of the underground "Tsukigime Enterprise" is an average high school girl by day and a deadly assassin by night. While taking on a new mission, an enemy organization threatens the lives of Ranko and her friends. This 2D fast-paced side-scrolling action game will draw players deeper into the schoolgirl/assassin's thrilling life, and serves as a video game tie-in to Katsuhiro Otomo's four-part anime compilation film project, SHORT PEACE. POSSESSIONS, GAMBO, A Farewell to Weapons and COMBUSTIBLE are joined by the fifth and final part of the project; Ranko Tsukigime's Longest Day. Players will put their reflexes and quick judgment to the test in fast-paced platforming gameplay that will have them blazing through dangerous, obstacle-ridden environments to flee from an ominous enemy looming close behind.

Dear reader, before you purchase this game you need to know a few things about it. First and foremost, Short Peace is a collaborative art project that consists of five pieces; the first four are short anime films by some of the most celebrated anime makers of our time and the final piece is a short film with intervals of a playable sidescrolling video game. So in essence, you are given a chance to be part of an art project, as opposed to simply witnessing one.

The four movies present various eras of Japanese history and folklore, as each presents a different mood and directorial perspective. The video game attempts to encapsulate all that you know about Japanese culture into one experience, including sounds, colors and overall ambiance. The game is fast-paced action-packed and super fun, stages are beautifully constructed, and boss fights are well thought and actually challenging.

Animated movies rating: 10/10 and I suggest you watch them before you play the game.
Game rating: 9/10 although it's fun and addicting with high chance of playability, the gaming portion of the piece loses a pont for being relatively short.

A MUST HAVE for Japanophiles and everyone who's sick of typical games.
