Sandpipers and plovers are among the many shorebirds that live between the tides in Ireland, on mudflats and shingle, in estuaries and lagoons, on beaches and bays. The introductory section about shorebird ecology is a page turner. The species accounts include all kinds of additional details not found in the usual field guides, and of course the photos are fantastic, showing the birds in context rather than bland closeups. Suitable for hard corre twitchers and birding novices alike! Congrats to the authors.
