It is a bit unusual for an unknown author, with no history of writing magazine articles, to produce a book on shore fishing. However, it is not a bad attempt, and will be useful for anyone starting out. It is not a book for the experienced shore fisherman, as it does not cover any of the more advanced aspects of the sport. The project apparently started out as a fish identification guide, and so there is a large section devoted to this aspect. It would have been better to have left this out, as this aspect is adequately covered in other books (there is even a Welsh sea fish ID guide by Paul Kay), and replaced with information on local tackle shops and location of bait supplies.
