Shooting Elvis is a witty, entertaining book. Touted as a "Generation X" style book, there is a nihlist core somewhere in there, but forget all of that and just join Nina Zero for the ride as she becomes an accidental terrorist.
The writing is clear and crisp, the characterisation spot on and the jokes are of the best variety; emerging from the characters and situations rather than feeling shoehorned into the book. The result is pretty effortless entertainment which manages to combine its darker streaks with the kind of humour fans of Elmore Leonard and other such writers should appreciate. Read it as a thriller, read it as a black comedy or read it as a commentary on the malaise of Generation X-ers. However you look at it, its a groovy book I wholheartedly reccomend.
