Product Description

Product Description
Scott Graham was a formidable SAS soldier. Decorated for his heroism in Northern Ireland and the Falklands, he fought gun battles in which more than a dozen IRA terrorists were killed. Mairead Farrell planted bombs for the IRA. For 14 years they carried on a clandestine affair, which reached its crescendo with the controversial shooting of three unarmed IRA terrorists on the Rock of Gibraltar. This is the true story of this extraordinary romance, and of the killings that shocked the world.

I'm a sucker for SAS books written by 'foot soldiers'giving the warts & all accounts from the ground. This book can sit alongside the best of 'em.Lost many hours sleep reading this compelling story of an SAS soldier in love with a convicted member of the IRA culminating in a shocking & heartbreaking end in Gibralter.Dont hesitate.....just buy it! (Not recommended if your busy).

5.0 out of 5 stars All is not fair in love and war!, 9 Dec 2002

If you buy one special forces biog this year make it this one. The phrase "page turner" was invented for this book. Scott Graham was a tough SAS soldier operating in the hardest environments yet he could not control his feelings for the wrong woman. Action packed but with a different edge, easy to read but enough detail to keep you hooked. The book also contains details of the SAS/IRA Gibralta incident which were previously unreleased.

4.0 out of 5 stars A worthy read, 5 Jan 2005
This book was very different to any other SAS book I had read. It largely focused on his relationship with a female member of the IRA and how this confliction affected his life. What he did in my mind was absolutely stupid as he could have cost many British serviceman lives. He would argue he saved some, which he claims he did, but an SAS operative actively having a relationship with an active member of the IRA for non operational reasons? Idiot to put it politely. I did feel he was open and honest and this was one of the first SAS guys to show a more emotional side to his character making it a more personal read.

The book reveals more how the IRA works, its rules and politics for its members and the way a young girl was turned into a killer. It was quite a sad story in the end and unfortunately probably true. Well worth a read though. If I had the utter respect for author it would be a 5 star book.
