Vanishing Hitchhiker is a do-able and a not too challenging game. There's plenty in there to keep you occupied, lots of places to go to, go back to again, look for items that would come in useful later, and building stuff. Some creepy scenes, dodgy buildings and moody music. What you have to do to solve the puzzles or work out the plot makes sense and there's a variety of mini puzzles that aren't too hard. Overall about 7 hours of playing time (not rushing by any means) with another 90 minutes or so in the bonus part of the story. There's the option to skip things and there's a strategy guide too.
Not sure why this is a 16 rating other than references to murder and ghosts and I'd maybe hoped for more challenge with the 16 rating. There are other games with a higher 'shiver' element which probably come in at 7. Overall, if you like HOGs this has a reasonable plot, a variety of scenes, is a bit over enthusiastic with it's helpful sparkles (every doorway has a mass of sparkles even through there's nothing to do as you've solved everything in that room it just wants to remind you there's a door), there's the odd sluggish delay and you need to be steady with the mouse so as to not to miss things. Enjoyed this nevertheless.
