Product Description

Review

“[Kate Maryon] understands a child's deepest feelings, including the negative ones, and she allows Tiff to run through the gamut of them as she slowly works her way through feelings of abandonment, loneliness, fear and anger, until eventually happiness and love can resurface. Readers will recognise all her thoughts. It's an uplifting story which begins with a huge disaster and ends with a new start for everyone. It will reassure and comfort its readers and it exactly inhabits their emotional landscape… I think tween girls are going to love it.” [Four stars] TheBookBag.co.uk

Product Description

Tiff's mum is a thief and she's about to get caught … A brilliant novel from a fantastic new writer for girls.

Twelve-year-old Tiff loves her mum, Carla, who is glitzy and fun and always coming home with shiny new amazing stuff. The trouble is, Tiff's mum doesn't buy things, she takes them. The fact is, Tiff's mum is a thief…

When Carla gets caught, Tiff’s shiny life is ruined. She's packed off to a remote island to live with Carla's family. A family her mum never even talks about and that Tiff has never even met! How can she survive in this dull, dull place?

But the island of Sark isn't as awful as Tiff imagined it would be. The islanders are kind and honest and she's happy spending time with them. So three months later, when it's finally time for her mum to join her, Tiff can't help feeling more than a little bit worried…

A delightful book 7 Mar 2010
Format:Paperback
This book is aimed at girls 9 years+ As an adult I read it in a day as I didn't want to put it down. It is a lovely story beautifully told from the eyes of a little girl who's life seemingly falls apart in just one day.

You very quickly fall in love with Tiffany and are there with her sharing her worries and joys all the way.

A captivating read! 17 Mar 2010
Format:Paperback
I was first alerted to this book at the book-forum website, and I'm glad I was as my 13 year old daughter - who I usually struggle to get to read ANYTHING, let alone a whole book - really enjoyed it!

As she was so taken by it I had a read and, I think it's written in a warm, friendly style, but conveys the unhappiness felt by Tiff, the lead character, very well. Ends in a delightful way too!

Fantastic insightful and fun book for girls in the 9-12 age range. The story will have readers carried along, I couldn't get my 10 yr old's nose out of it. Wonderful characters, believable storyline, and beautifully written for this age group. You will laugh, cry and love the heroine Tiffany........there are even ponies!! Well done Kate.
