After a few spills on my mountain bike while cleated in I stopped using cleats for a few years. Recently I purchased a road bike, so decided to try using them again. Before buying these multi cleats I tried half clips. I quickly found that even with half clips they held my foot in an uncomfortable position, causing knee pain. I tried these cleats, with the pedal tensioner backed out all the way (cheapest shimano pedals), and they have been great. Sufficient "float" to prevent my knee pain. Enough "tension" to hold my foot on the pedal, yet really easy to release. Getting back into the habit you inevitably forget to uncleat from time to time, but these did not let me down - release was easy.
A quick spray of WD40 on the pedals once a month keep these cleats working perfectly.
I would definately recommend for the born again cleaters.

cleat works fab, but a rip off, buy a set of new pedals for not much more and get cleats included in price.
