People who are complaining that this is not an intense Yoga workout either need to stop or learn to read. It states quite clearly on the FRONT of the DVD that this is an INTRODUCTION to Yoga.
Firstly, the scenery was amazing. It was a clever choice to film in lush fields and beautiful Indian houses. The locations are truly inspirational.
But not as much as Shilpa herself. Damn does this girl have a gorgeous body or what? I loved her workout clothes. Nice change from the black lycra and other fashion disasters that no one looks good in. She looks pretty and for that reason, she makes you want to work to look pretty.
Another thing I liked was that, though she is in great shape, Shilpa is a normal woman. She has curves and she seems pretty proud of them. Her flat belly bunches up when she does certain moves but there's no self conciousness about it. It's refreshing to see someone focusing on the moves instead of the camera and it makes me believe her a whole lot more when she talks about Yoga being a lifestyle to her.
The workout itself is pretty simple. A smooth voiced man clearly talks you through one repetion of each Asana while Shilpa performs them. There is no mindless banter or chattering---in fact we don't hear from her again until the extras. This is probably the best aspect of the video. Not only is there no one huffing and puffing as they try to explain the postures whilst doing them, there is something entirely calming and relaxing about the singular voice. The whole vibe is isolated, which is exactly the frame of mind that is helpful when practising Yoga.
Others have complained about the lack of repetions but as an introduction, it's perfect. A beginner can move from one posture to the next without becoming bored or feeling deflated when the Bow seems to hard for them. (Always struggled with that one) Plus, there's none of the inevitable "taking a break" while the presenter/performer works through the next three or four reps of the moves that prove more difficult.
Instead of seemingly endless reps of a few postures, we get one rep of a lot of different postures, giving us a more broader taste of Yoga.
The extras were more than likely fan filler but as someone who watched for the workout, I'm not going to take a star away for that.
I will say that I felt the general 'just been the gym' aches the next day so don't be expecting too much of an easy ride.
In all, it's a beautiful introduction to Yoga that makes you want to stick at it while also making it easy to stick to. My advice for people who want to step it up a notch is to actually learn to do the moves without the DVD, then you can do as many reps as you want.
