5.0 out of 5 stars When TV was good! 4 Dec 2007
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
Like the rest of your reviews, I too remember watching this series in my bedroom on a cold winters night, I was about 16 at the time. I also remember being completly enthralled by this gentle series. It goes to prove you can write good humour and drama without reverting to foul language.

For those who have wandered on to this review, take a chance and buy this before it is deleted. You will not regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars I've Waited Years For This 29 Jan 2005
Format:DVD
I've had an old VHS of a few of episodes of this series since it was broadcast in the early 80s and I've always wanted to get the remaining episodes. This two CD set didn't disappoint. It contains the original film and all six episodes of the series as well as some stills. If you want to escape into an idealised world of country living, this is just the job.

4.0 out of 5 stars Shillinbury Tales 17 April 2007
Format:DVD
It was with great excitement that I orderd this DVD, thinking back to my youth , watching this series with my parents on a sunday night. Ive had the book for many years, and have read it over and over, still remembering bits of it on the TV screan.

It was like jumping back into my childhood watching these, and it brought back so many happy memouries, when the world was so innocent, and the 70/80s outfits ! My mother even cringed at some of the dresses and remembers trying to style her hair like Dianes.

If you want something easy going for a wet and cold winters night, this dvd is perfect, just have a huge mug of tea, curl up on the sofa and forget the cold outside, as the warm glow of an innocent time will warm you to the bone. It does get a bit slushy at times, but you just know that they are in love and nothing can divide them.

Great trip down memory lane I remember watching this when originally screened on TV, great characters and enjoyable to watch again. well recommended.
Good quality picture, a little tip set your DVD or Blue Ray to output picture in Zoom Format as original is in 14.9. you can do this with no loss of picture quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars feel good factor 16 Jan 2014

The Shillingbury Tale DVD never fails to delight me. I've watched it a dozen times and have never tired of it. The acting is good, the scenery great and the story lines carefree. It's a pity reruns aren't shown on the tv. I don't think it could fail to make people smile.
