This is by far the best historical novel written for young adults that I have read. The characterization is excellent. The reader is drawn to Nyresa as she leaves her island to live in Athens. The plot is very exciting as Nyresa uncovers events leading to the Battle of Marathon. The depiction of Ancient Athens was so realistic that I had to remind myself that I was in 21th century London and not actually in Greece. There's also some girl talk, and a bit of romance. Perfect! If you liked books like the Caroline Lawrence Roman Mysteries, you will love this one! I couldn't put it down from start to finish.
