5.0 out of 5 stars Insane Brilliance 9 July 2002
For those of you have found this page after working out how to spell the name of the insane act you saw at Glastonbury 2002, welcome. That insane act featured some of the most brilliant musicians I've ever heard, coupled with two or three half naked blokes painted white gurning. This CD has plently of the former but none of the latter, probably a good thing but it matters little - the exuberance and noise of the music conjures them up in your mind anyway. It is impossible to listen to this CD without smiling, without dancing at least a little and without feeling knackered by the inexhaustability of the orchestra themselves. Forget what some might see as the gimmick of the pantomine; this is some of the best, most spirited most expertly played Jazz you'll ever hear. God bless Fuwa Daisuke and his Japanese cohorts..

5.0 out of 5 stars Exuberant Magnificence! 19 Sep 2002
By A Customer
This album was everything I had hoped it would be. Put it on, close your eyes and you are back at Glastonbury 2002 watching the first act on the pyramid stage and wondering what the hell is going on!!

The Shibusashirazu Orchestra play great jazz. They know how to jam and they know how to pull it back together. They do it with energy and pure joy. It is just a pity that those people who haven't seen the accompanying stage show will not be able to sample the full experience.

The band is enormous! Fully 30 musicians on stage along with wierd, white painted guys climbing around, pink dressed cheerleaders with pom poms, a bizzare nurse with a bandaged doll and various other strange goings on.

If you have seen the band live then the CD is a must. If you haven't seen them then buy the CD, listen, and look out for the next time they are in the country - you will want to go!

I just happened to see Shibusashirazu open at Glastonbury this year and the sound was absolutely unique. They have about 50 people on stage and at least 10 of them are there dressed up in the weirdest garb and to move around the stage in the most entertaining and bizare manner!

I found they were playing again at Glasto 2002 and so I got to the stage early and watched them from the very front. My experience of Glastonbury (for the first time) is dominated by such a unique group of people who really love music and performance. The CD (which was available early at the festival) is pure fun, just put it on as loud as you dare and lie back anf enjoy. It fits any situation and works extremely well as background music, very much like lounge bar jazz.

I have to see them again, and I recommend everyone sees them live and buys their music - it is fanstastic!
