Product Description

Product Description

The author has been developing shiatsu techniques for dogs since 1982 when a friend asked her to help her elderly dog with his pain during his last days. Since then, she has worked with hip degenerative problems, arthritis, problems associated with old age, and attitude problems. Her focus is to teach people techniques to use on their own dogs. The Shiatsu techniques in this book have been chosen for their simplicity, effectiveness and fun. They will benefit all dogs: young and old; sick or injured and well; working dogs and family pets; well balanced or insecure. This book is essential reading for all dog owners who wish to have a closer and happier relationship with their canine companions.

About the Author

Pamela Hannay began her study of the oriental healing arts in 1975, and taught since 1978. She was senior instructor at the Ohashi Institute in New York City and Europe until her death in 2001. She has been featured in Money Magazine and the New York Times regarding her work with dogs and is co-author of Touching Horses: Communication, Health and Healing Through Shiatsu.

2.0 out of 5 stars Introduction to being more in touch with your dog, 7 April 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Shiatsu for Dogs (Allen Photographic Guides) (Paperback)
I found the book reasonably useful however I had hoped for more information regarding Shiatsu meridian and points work. The photographs were the most useful part of the book for me. I would have liked more detailed information that would help me practise Shiatsu with dogs presenting different conditions. I recommend the book to dog owners looking to become more in touch with their canine friends. The book seems similar to other touch therapies for dogs and not specifically Shiatsu.

5.0 out of 5 stars For all dog-lovers, 27 May 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Shiatsu for Dogs (Allen Photographic Guides) (Paperback)
I love this little picture book ("photographic guide"). I had ordered it with trepidation, not being educated in shiatsu or any other oriental healing art. I thought it might prove to be well beyond my understanding and ability. But, in fact, it could not be easier. The techniques are simple, the explanations clear, and the abundant photographs leave no doubt as to exactly where and how each treatment is done. If nothing else comes from it, my two old, arthritic doggies are greatly enjoying their massages-- any long-term results will just be icing on the cake. I highly recommend this booklet.

3.0 out of 5 stars Shiatsu for dogs, 16 Aug 2009
By Irene Muhlemann "White Hors" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Shiatsu for Dogs (Allen Photographic Guides) (Paperback)
I was looking for a book to learn more about the shiatsu technics for dogs. This booklette is a short overview on shiatsu technics for dogs. The text is written in an understanding way and the fotos are informative. But in this small booklette is no place for all those information I was looking for. At the same time I bought the book Pamela Hannay has written about "Shiatsu Therapy for Horses" with all details about meridians and so on. I hope I'll find a book as good as this for dogs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ok Book, 10 April 2008
By H. Quade "harryq" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Shiatsu for Dogs (Allen Photographic Guides) (Paperback)
This is an ok book. Unless you know Shiatsu, this book can be confusing. The auther should had gave careful details, and more closer up photos so people pick this up more easier.

Other than that, its a good handbook. Only like 23 pages, its beats repeated stuff that you find in Reiki books.
