Secondly the book.
Okay I love Erin Nicholas's books. The Bradfords series introduced us to four hunks of men and their ladies. This new series is a follow on from that and focuses on paramedic Connor Dixon and his four sisters, Amanda, Emma, Olivia & Isabelle.
In this first book we meet Amanda and Ryan.
Amanda is the eldest Dixon sister and has grown up protecting those around her. Her sisters from themselves and Connor from everything his sisters do (he gets angry a lot). She is portrayed as this straight laced, dedicated to her job kinda girl - does she have a wild side? You bet she does - and this wild side is nudged in the right direction by some unwanted attention from another man and a challenge from her younger sister who asks her to 'live a weekend as Emma would.' After turning down the unwanted attention by suggesting she is in love with Ryan (Connor's friend) after an imaginary one night stand Amanda is stunned when Ryan asks for the night back. Does she say yes? You bet she does but on her terms.
Unfortunatley for Ryan, Amanda's ideas of a hot and heavy night are very different than his and they end up in a club where lets say Amanda lets her hair down and Ryan doesn't even begin to like watching it happen.
Slowley though (after a few misunderstandings) they begin working from the same page. The spy scene in the shop is hilarious as are their subsequent role playing attempts AND their attempts to spend time together without getting disturbed. The scene in Laser Tag place is all sorts of hot too.Read more ›
Ryan Kaye has a reputation as a ladies man. Amanda Dixon is known as the sensible one. She has three sisters and a brother. When Amanda's little sister dares her to spend a weekend thinking like their baby sister Emma - Amanda takes on the challenge. Emma is fun she goes around snogging men getting her self into lots of trouble. When Amanda ends up telling a guy that Ryan has ruined her after a one night stand and Ryan getting punched for it - things between Ryan and Amanda soon turn Amanda's like into fun.
Their relationship has lot's of up's and down's. Amanda is always making sure people are ok and if they are not wanting to make sure she can make it right for them. Ryan has been taught my his mum never to settle down with someone for to long. His mum has never married always chucked them out and moved onto the next man - so Ryan has this on his mind too.
I also loved the fact that you had Sam, Mac, Dooley and Ben back in this book. It was great to catch up with and also having them giving Ryan advice like the did to one another in 'The Bradford' series. There are lot's of laughs again. Can not wait till September for one the next one is out. If you are reading this book and never read 'The Bradford' series I strongly recommend you read them after this book.
This book was awesome ! I don't usually read straight contemporary romance but in this case I am so glad I did! This family really cares for and about each other and that was very heartwarming. I totally fell in love with the characters right from the start as they were funny and quirky and incredibly original.
For her birthdy Olivia wants Amanda to be more like their fun loving sister Emma and wants Emma to be more like her responsible sister Amanda. To fulfill Olivia's birthday wish Amanda accepts a dance with a firefighter but when the guy wants more than a dance she makes up a story about a fictitious one night stand with Ryan so he will leave her alone... Of course this plan backfires and all sorts of hilarity ensues. The trouble with lies is they always come back to bite you...
I will be starting It Takes Two (Counting on Love) directly after I finish writing this review!!! I admit it... I'm addicted :)
***This book is suitable for adult readers only
Erin has a knack for writing about down to earth characters who are truly believable.
The comic content is brilliant, it blends perfectly with tormented love plot.
Making for a charming light hearted read.
Can't wait for the rest of this series, going to get book 2 NOW!!!!
