Christine Warren's books are unashamedly trashy paranormal romances, but there's nothing wrong with that. Just don't expect the same quality of writing that you get with other similar writers (Christine Feehan or Tate Hallaway or Gerry Bartlett for example) because you won't find it here. She does inject plenty of passion into the books though, so that's an upside!
"She's no faerie princess" is definitely better than the first book "Wolf at the Door", although it features some of the same characters. The storyline is a little more on the whodunnit side which I found more interesting. This book focuses on Fiona, a member of the Fae, who happens to be the niece of both the Queen of one realm and the King of another. Finding herself much in demand as a mate by other ambitious members of the fae, she ventures into the human world against the express wishes of her aunt. Almost as soon as she enters, she is attacked by a demon, something she has heard of but never seen before. Her rescuer Tobias, a werewolf, takes her back to his home and they immediately indulge in their mutual attraction. However, his quick discovery that she is fae puts a dampener on things. He feels that she is his mate but he is confused by the fact that she is not a were. She feels an attraction and as the fae indulge in whatever they feel when they feel it, has a mind to have a passionate fling with him, not join with him for life. When she tries to re-enter the world of Fae, she finds the entry closed. And so begins the story of who is trying to cause trouble with the Fae and bring demons into the human world.
I know it sounds as though I have told the whole story but that's just what happens on the first few pages really!
The writing isn't great, the dialogue is pretty terrible in particular, but the story is interesting enough and hot enough when it needs to be too. It's a quick trashy read, but sometimes that just what you are after!
