Book Description

18 Jan 2001 Classic Stories
This original, dramatic retelling is told as a flashback: after a storm a boy discovers a great oak tree has fallen. Beneath the disturbed roots he finds a hunting horn, bones and a skull. Clutching these objects, he has a dream, and relives Robin's story. He enters the dream world of Sherwood forest where he leads a band of albinos and misfits to fight against the Sheriff's injustice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully told and narrated 14 Jun 2004
Format:Audio Cassette
This is a beautiful retelling of the Robin Hood legends, skillfully blending myth with historical realism. The urgency of the story is increased for children by the device of framing the legend with the story of a modern boy, who finds ancient relics of Robin himself.

What makes this recorded version particularly special is the reading, by Morpurgo himself. Not all authors are the best readers of their own work, but in this case it is hard to imagine a more vital, vivid and moving narration. My children were moved to tears by the death of Robin, a tribute to a great legend, a wonderful retelling and an outstanding presentation.

4.0 out of 5 stars A compassionate tale of the story of Robin Hood 19 April 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio Cassette
I found this a very good book. it tells of a young boy who comes to live with a group of people called the Outcasts. That boy becomes Robin Hood and the rest of the story is of the adventures that happen. Like all other Michael Morpurgo books. I give this a Thumbs Up

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! A must read 16 Feb 2006
Format:Paperback
I read this book years ago, and it was one of the best Robin Hood books I have ever had the pleasure of reading, and still is. The characters are described so vivedly, at some points you almost feel you could reach out and touch them. And at the end..I was moved to tears. But I won't spoil the ending for you. A must read! Even for adults.
