Product Description

Barnaby Law is a "Finder Extraordinaire" which is really a fancy name for an unlicensed private detective. He can find you people, he can find you missing goods, he can even find you pictures of your wife sleeping with the mail man. All in the name of paying the bills.

When an eccentric acquaintance with a Sherlock Holmes obsession hires Barnaby to find his missing sister Barnaby has to butt heads with the strange and violent men with whom she's been associating.

Now he has to find a way to keep his acquaintance out of trouble and rescue the girl without getting sucked into the strange and mysterious events surrounding him. This "Finder Extraordinaire" is about to find out the world around him isn't as straightforward as it seems.

Approximately 9,600 words.

Quick fun read.. 16 Jan 2012

A combination of Sherlockian fans, vampires and I am not sure what the guy that oozes black liquid is/was. Unexpectedly good read and I hope a short one that will lead to another longer story. The characters are strong enough, give or take a little work and depth, to become a series of stories. Being a Sherlock fan myself I couldn't help but smile at the two Sherlocks, nobody ever wants to be Dr Watson. Quick, but fun read.

At a loss... 15 Mar 2012

I started this book and finished it all within an hour... Seriously short- however, once the book opened into vampire audacity I was glad for it to be over. I felt cheated- this starts as a light/ cozy type mystery with an edge and appeared to have an original take on the whole thing. 2 guys who like Sherlock Holmes, dress up as Holmes for Comic Con events... one guy is just a fan and knows reality, the other guy stays in "character" always... I liked that the "realistic" guy marketed himself a "Finder Extraordinaire" and labeled himself as an Unlicensed Private Investigator- Then at about 65% of the book (approximately 20 pages or so)- It turns sour with the vampire junk... Even the silliness in it didn't make it okay... This could have been a good new concept detective/cozy and it had me at first- get rid of the vampires and any other paranormal craziness and develop this character line, then put a good story line together that people will find suspenseful and full of mystery... You can still turn this into something good. 2 stars is generous and only given because you got me to read through to more than 60% (mind you it didn't take long) before I started having disparaging thoughts and feeling as though I wasted a good bit of time here when I could have been reading something else entirely...
